"In my life, I have prayed but one prayer: Oh Lord, make my enemies ridiculous. And God granted it." --Voltaire
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue." --Oscar Wilde, The Soul of Man Under Socialism
I'm currently a college student (after being a two-time college dropout), gradually becoming aware how much of a "brilliant scholar, terrible academic" combination I am. For now I'm moving into public health; I'm less likely to be broke 10 years from now, and I'm damn good at it.
I also dabble in music (composing/songwriting, playing bass, singing classical countertenor and jazz/rock alto), costuming, cooking, drag cabaret, muckraking, tutoring high school, building impossible bottles and tangled playing cards, designing mechanical Turing machines, and trying to justify "jack of all trades" as a legitimate life path.
This profile includes a daily-updating moon-phase macro for a few reasons: I'm somewhat in love with the ocean (=>tides=>moon) due in part to my family and the circumstances of my birth; I think the moon is a wonderful poetic and literary image; and I have a (non-specific) spiritual "affinity" for the moon (read: the moon makes me feel "connected" to things -- see also Li Bai and the "poetic" remark above).
